The newly sworn-in Chairman of Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo state, John Osi Akhigbe has presented sum N3.5 billion budget estimate to the legislative arm for consideration.
Speaking during the budget, Akhigbe, said the estimate christened Budget of Growth” was fashioned along the policy thrust of the state government of infrastructural development in primary schools, improved healthcare delivery, environmental sanitation and beautification, road network, welfares and social-economic empowerment of the people.
He said the budget would be funded from the council’s share of statutory allocation, SURE-P/Paris Club Refund, share of state IGR, Excess Crude/NLNG, Internal Generated Revenue and Value Added Tax (VAT).
According to him, out of the N3.4 billion, N950, million was allocate to works, housing and transport sectors, adding that the money would be channel to the provision of good road network in the communities, construction of staff quarters, purchase of mass transit Bbuses, rural electrification and water supply among others.
Akhigbe assured of his administration’s commitment to the judicious utilization of available resources to deliver on his electioneering promises.
“I wish to renew my gratitude to the leader and other members of the legislative arm for making the presentation a reality. I therefore called for the sustenance of the cordial and harmonious working relationship of the executive and the legislative arms”.
He called for cooperation and constructive advice from the legislature, party leaders as well as members of the public in the running of the affairs of the local government.
