The Membership Mobilisation Committee of Edo State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has given conditions for new membership registration.
Chairmen of the Committee, Mr Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, said this while interacting with journalists at the weekend in Benin City.
He assured that only people of goodwill who will support the unbroken chain of progress and development of APC would be admitted into party.
He clarified that reconciliation of aggrieved members of the ruling party otherwise called members of Edo Peoples Movement (EPM) was is not part of the mandate of the Committee.
“I believe everybody in this State is appreciative of the performance of the APC government led State governor, Godwin Obaseki in Edo State.
“What we are going to do is to get many people as possible on board to join hands with the party in the State towards ensuring that the pace of development in the State is sustained so that our State will have an unbroken chain of progress and development.
“There is no particular group. It is possible to get everybody in Edo State to join the party.
“We will accept people of goodwill from Edo State that are desirous to join the APC and build Edo State. We are not going to set a target for ourselves.
“Well the terms of reference given to us now are not that of reconciliation of aggrieved members. The State executive Committee is there to reconcile aggrieved members of APC. But, in the process of doing our job, where it is possible to reconcile people and out everybody on board, we will not hesitate to do that.
“But, remember that our mandate is for membership drive. The so called aggrieved members including Edo Peoples Movement (EPM) are already members of APC.
According to him, the APC has internal mechanism of reconciling aggrieved members because disagreements and agreements are the things that you see in political parties. It happen all the times because interests conflict from time to time. But, the beauty of it is that the party is also positioned to resolve all forms of conflicts among its members”.
Mr Abdul Kadir Giwa is to serve as the Secretary. Edo South Senatorial District has 15 members; Edo Central has 11 while Edo North has 13 members.
