Director-General, National Teachers Institute, Professor Ladan Aminu Sharehu yesterday said the institute in its effort to join hands and fight Ebola virus in the country, will soon distribute Hand bills, preventive kits including manual on prevention, control and protection from the virus to teachers nationwide.
According to him, it’s the responsibility of the institute to educate and protect teachers from the Ebola virus.
Speaking at a one-day sensitization workshop on Ebola virus, in collaboration with Ahmadu Bello University Clinic held in the state, Sharehu described Ebola as a deadlier disease than HIV virus.
He said the institute will do all it can to prevent its staff and teachers from contacting the disease.
The DG further explained that the kits and manuals would be given to teachers through their states commissioners of education, SUBEB offices, and NTI Zonal offices across the country as part of the sensitization programme.
In his remarks, Chief Medical Officer, University Health Services, ABU Zaria, Congo Campus, Dr Abdulhakeem A. Yusuf described the workshop as timely, as he commended the institute and Federal government for measures taken to curtail the virus in the country.
