Easter: Gombe Police warn citizens to be cautious

The Police in Gombe state have warned citizens to be cautious in the area while celebrating the up-coming Easter, stating that modalities have been put in place to ensure that a hitch free celebration sustain in the state.

Speaking to our correspondent during a telephone interview in Gombe yesterday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Fwaje Atajiri said the police would do everything possible to ensure that law and order is maintained, to enable citizens have a free celebration.

According to him, necessary action would be taken on anyone found wanting as, according to him the police will not fold its hands and allow perpetrators to carry out evil acts against innocent Nigerians.

He however explained that if there are any plan by any group or individual to perpetrate any evil act during the Easter celebrations, there is need for them to stay away, noting that the police are fully ready to eliminate anyone who tries to violate law and order.

The police spokesman also advised youths in the state to always see themselves as vanguards of change to the society, saying youths are the image-maker of any society.

While commending the effort of Gombe state police commissioner, Mr Kudu Nma, the police spokesman stated that upon his assumption into office in Gombe, he has created avenues towards combating crime in the state.

He maintained that given the current insecurity, which has been a major challenge in the north- eastern region, the police in the zone will do everything possible to ensure that it becomes a thing of the past.

According to him, it is the duty of the security agents to maintained lives and property of citizens, adding that the police have vowed not to relent in assisting the public when there are problems and called on them to always feed the police with useful information concerning criminal activities in their area.
