In order to enhance security throughout the Easter period in the nation’s capital, 3,000 personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been deployed to strategic places in the City.
This was disclosed by the Commandant of the FCT Command of NSCDC, Patrick Ukpan, through a statement signed the Corps Public Relations Officer (PRO), Akinbinu David.
Ukpan emphasized the need to enhance security; given that criminals take advantage of festive seasons as this to indulge in their malicious acts.
He added that the Armed Squad, Disaster and emergency units are also on standby to provide extra protection as well as respond aptly to emergencies as soon as the need arises.
He implored NSCDC officers and men to be extra alert, increasing their patrols and surveillance, in order to provide heightened protection across the FCT especially places like worship centres, parks, recreation centres and borders of the territory amongst several other places.
According to him, “The safety of citizens and our state as a whole is priority number one, especially now to ensure residents have a peaceful celebration.
“Be vigilant, obey rules and order, don’t over indulge, don’t drink and drive, obey traffic rules and please reporting every unusual and suspected act or individual to the nearest security post.”
