Dry season farming: Kebbi gov. releases cash to farmers

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu Abubakar has flagged off the 2018/2019 dry season farming cash disbursement of Anchor Borrowers programme in the state.
The flag off took place yesterday at the Produce Department of the Ministry of Agriculture Birinin Kebbi.
Delivering his speech, the Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu Abubakar said that the programme is in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Bank of Agriculture, aimed at assisting the farmers in the next year dry season farming.
He explained further that over 8,000 farmers have benefited from the programme with 150,000 thousand naira cash were given to them, most especially the rice farmers in the state.
“We have been empowering our people and we promised to be committed to the hearing of the people and ensured that we meet up our targeted by delivering the dividends of democracy” he added.
He appealed to the people to support the administration of President Muhammad Buhari for engaging our teaming youth on agriculture and make them to be self-employed.
In his remark, the former Kebbi State Governor Senator Adamu Aliero has said based on the diversification of the economy and promoting of agriculture in the state and Nigeria as is very optimistic that by next year poverty will be eliminated in Kebbi State and Nigeria at large.
He added that agriculture is the best solution to eliminate poverty in the country while admonished for the industry revolution in the state.
“Am calling on the governments to engaged private public partnership (PPP) in a business in order to ensured everlasting of the business, is not good government should use money in a business because they not get good results,” he added.
In his response, the State Chairman of Anchor Borrowers programme Alhaji Haruna Abubakar thank the Kebbi State Governor for initiating this programme, assured them of using the fund judiciary.
