By Stanley Onyekwere

In order to improve efficiency, the FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services ( DTRS) has bolstered its capacity with the recruitment and training of 250 vehicle inspection officials.
The Directorate explained that the recruitment was carried out in line with the FCT Administration’s desire to ensure people move freely and safely on roads in the Territory.
Speaking yesterday, during the passing out parade of the new officers, held at the old Parade Ground, Abuja, Director of DRTS, Wadata Bodinga, noted that the issue of safety is very paramount, hence there is need for continuous strengthening of its enforcement capacity.
Bodinga therefore charged newly recruited staff to ensure discipline and responsibility, as well as be on top of the situation especially when discharging their duties.
He also enjoined them to shun acts of corruption, as they have a responsibility to represent Abuja and the FCT Administration in the best possible way.
“The issue of safety is very paramount, and no matter how you want to keep the people safe, there is need to certain extent for good enforcement capacity.
“We are recruiting in order to increase capacity, and ensure that we are in tandem with the administration’s desire to ensure people move freely and safely in the Territory.
“This is one of the basic thing, because you have to have manpower and materials to do the work generally.
“We urge the new staff to ensure discipline, as their behaviour on the road matters a lot, hence they should ensure that at all times they are disciplined and good behaviour”, the Director stressed.
