The Zamfara state Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson has called on the members of the dreaded armed bandits terrorizing peace in the state to drop their arms and surrender as strategic measures have been worked out to get them at all cost.
The warning came yesterday in a town hall meeting with stakeholders comprising traditional and religious leaders in Anka local government area aimed at discussing security challenges facing the emirate and the state at large with a view to find lasting solutions for peace to reign as expected.
“I am aware there is no herdsmen and farmers clash among the security challenges the state is facing but, the armed banditry, cattle rustling and kidnapping were recorded by the state Command, the reason we have deployed our gallant men jointly with other personnel from sister agencies down the bush to smoke out criminals”, CP Ebrimson has stated.
The Commissioner further called on the participants who have a direct or indirect contact with the bandits to communicate to them that, Police cannot fold arms to continue watching innocent lives unnecessarily dying almost on daily basis, adding that, “We have worked out modalities and proactive, protective measures as well to ensure the return of peace in the state.
Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner has earlier paid a sympathy visit to the emir of Anka, Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad at his palace over recent attacks on Kuru-kuru and Jarkuka villages by the armed bandits which consumed many innocent lives and legitimate property.
The emir of Anka, Alhaji Muhammad Attahiru Ahmad assured most needed support and cooperation the Police Command is soliciting towards bringing to end high profiled criminal activities across the emirate and beyond.
“I sincerely must register on behalf of myself and the entire good people of my emirate, our grudges upon inadequate number of Police men serving in the local government which too small to face the bandits who usually move in large number with sophisticated weapons,” the emir said.
