Kaduna state House of Assembly was yesterday thrown into a dramatic state when a member, Honourable Balarabe Jigo representing Kakangi/Brinin Gwari Constituency declared on the floor of the house that he and other associates of impeached leadership of the house are still in the possession of the Mace of the house and will not return it back until there is a breakthrough in the ongoing reconciliation.

Hon. Jigo who is the champion in the fight to reinstate the impeached Speaker, Muazu Usman Gangara, while speaking on the floor of the house, called for a thorough investigation on the where about of the house mace which was taken away from the house by the supporters of the deposed speaker.

Jigo expressed dismay that after the unfortunate incident threw the house into chaos, nobody has come out to tell them of the where about of the mace and he suspected that the present mace used iscounterfeit.

“We know that the mace is symbol of authority of the house and the house cannot sit without the mace. As a member of the rebel group, I am aware that the mace was taken away and since then the where about of the mace is still a mystery”, he said.

In his response, the Speaker, Usman Shehu Tahir, said the issue of the where about of the mace has been referred to the ethics and disciplinary committee of the house to investigate and report back to the house in three week time.

In a sharp reaction, the former Deputy Speaker, Dr. Dogara Matoh confessed that the mace is with them and they are waiting for elders in the state who are trying to reconcile the warring parties.

According to him, they are ready to return the mace when the full reconciliation process is achieved.
