The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has ended its sensitization tour of the communities within the prospect hydro -carbon deposit in the Bida Basin before the activities for exploration survey begun in the mapped areas of Niger State.
This is coming barely three weeks after the visit of the Department Director, Alhaji Ahmed Rufai Shakur to the Niger State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello and Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the state traditional council Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar at Wadata palace in Bida.
DPR team during its sensitization visits led by the Operations Controller, Engr Abdullahi Isah Jankara told the Emirates that they should be informed on aircraft flying at lower latitude to allay their fears and avoid panic, hence a survey would be carried out using aircraft equipped with modern technology to determine the quantity of hydrocarbon deposit in the Bida Basin.
The team which begun its sensitization visit to the traditional institutions who are the custodian to the people begun from the Emir of Lapai, Alhaji Umar Bago Tafida111 in Lapai local government in addition to other eight (8) traditional ruler within the prospected hydro carbon deposit areas of the state.
Bahago assured the Department of Petroleum Resources, Minna Field Office, headed by the leader, Engr. Abdullahi Isah .Jankara, whom he described as an illustrious son of the Niger would succeed in the assigned exercise, the emir however pledged his total support.
During its visit to Emir of Minna, Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Faruk Bahago expressed his happiness about the development appealing that some of the mapped out areas within his domain were named and should be corrected for data accuracy.
DPR Minna Niger State explained the essence of the visit and plead with Kagara Emirate to take the vital information down to the rural dwellers, to enable for a successful Radiometric survey exercise that covers Garin Gabas in kagara emirate.
The department solicited for absolute support of the people within the affected communities towards the success of the hydrocarbon survey through the use of aircraft flying at lower altitude saying people must be sensitized for panic free exercise, stressed that what they see is meant for the good of Niger state.
Engr Isah Jankara told the monarchs that the radiometric survey activities flying aircrafts would be flying at lower latitude like hundred meters above the surface ground, which is unusual and could cause worry if people are not well sensitized, and it beholds on his establishment to reach out to the people through the leadership.
Consequently, all the community leaders visited expressed their happiness and appreciated the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari for the project that would actualized their dreams of joining the oil producing states that will actually boast their economic base, create jobs and reduce lawlessness in the society, assuring of maximum support and cooperation for the success of the project.
In the DPR delegation during the sensitization tour were, Head of Operations, Mr. Joshua Madaki, Head Downstream Alhaji Ahmed Emimaru and Head of Human Resources, Alhaji Dalhat Hassan Dalhat and others.
