Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Gombe state yesterday said the department has impounded 5 vehicles due to fraudulent activities.
Operation controller Gombe field office Alhaji Abdullahi Abawa told Journalists that the impounded vehicles were arrested at NNPC filling station along Bauchi park road in Gombe with additional fabrication tanks trying to buy petroleum products and sell to public at high price in black market.
He said that, the vehicles have been handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for investigation.
According to him, when investigation is concluded, the offenders will be prosecuted, adding that DPR will do everything possible in ensuring that people who are found wanting are brought to book.
He called on motorists and motorcyclists to desist themselves from such acts as DPR will not fold its arm and watch this illegal acts go on in the state.
Speaking further, the controller blamed NNPC for not supplying adequate petroleum to the public saying there is need for NNPC to brief Nigerians on the matter.
He said NNPC had earlier accused DPR for not monitoring petroleum products in filling stations noting that DPR does not source fuel, they regulate the product and that they have done well in terms of monitoring.
The controller urged NNPC to liaise with petroleum depots nationwide in ensuring that the right thing is being done to benefit the masses in the country.
