A visiting professor to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH),Gwagwalda, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Prof. Martin Aghaji, has advocated for establishment of an emergency code team in the hospitals to give prompt attention to emergencies in the society.
Aghaji, who made the call while delivering a speech during the two-Day workshop organized by UATH, on vascular emergencies in Gwagwalada, also urged the Chief medical doctors to give priority attention to in-service training of the health workers to update their knowledge.
The visiting Professor who was the guest speaker of the occasion, however, appealed to the government to provide enough facilities to enable the doctors to carry out their duties diligently.
He called on health workers irrespective of their status to place emphasis on the welfare of the patients in the hospitals.
On his part, a medical consultant with the UATH, Dr. Olori Samson, said that the purpose of workshop was to train doctors and other health workers on how to manage the vascular emergencies.
Samson therefore, called on the government to provide the needed equipment in the federal hospitals to enable the doctors to carry out some surgical operations when the need arises.
