Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara yesterday announced a few changes in the chairmanship of some standing committees of the House, as the House adjourned to November 6.
In the new development as announced during plenary yesterday, Dogara’s erstwhile ally and former chairman of Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin who was suspended by the House over controversies surrounding his handling of the 2017 budget, has been named chairman of the Committee on Land Transport.
Senatorial hopeful and Chairman of the Committee on Rules and Business, Hon. Emmanuel Orker-Jev has been moved to head the Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), while Hon. Edward Pwajok was named as new Chairman of the Rules and Business Committee.
Erstwhile chairman of the Committee on Police Affairs, Hon. Haliru Jika has been moved to head the Committee on Privatization and Commercialization, while Hon. Lawal Garba takes over at the Police Affairs.
New Chairman of the Committee on FCT Judiciary is Hon. Dandutse Mutari, Human Rights Committee now has Hon. Sadiq Abubakar as Chairman, while Hon. Tajudeen Abbas is now to head the Committee on Solid Minerals.
On the Constituency Outreach Committee now is Hon. Yerima Ahmad, while Hon. Mahmood Mohammed is to head the Committee on Housing, and Hon. Aminu Sani is new Chairman of the Committee on National Population.
Appointed as new deputy heads of committee also were: Hon. Ayo Joseph (Special Duties), Hon. Tope Olayenu (Army), and Hon. Ayo Omidiran (FCT Judiciary).
