Discipline, patriotism necessary in democratic process – Aremu

The Labour Party Gubernatorial Candidate in the 2019 election in Kwara State Comrade Issa Aremu, has called for inculcation of “national ethics of Discipline, Integrity, Dignity of Labour, Social, Justice, Religious Tolerance, Self-reliance and Patriotism in Nigeria democratic process as envisaged by Chapter 11 of the 1999 constitution dealing with the Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy.
He made the assertion while speaking to the media in kaduna yesterday.
According to him there is urgent need for “quality control” of the country’s democratic process in the country.
Aremu attributes the set in the democracy process to lack of good quality control, saying the country has done well in time of quantity because there is over 80M registered voters in the country but still backwards in quality control.

Added that the corruption and insecurity bedeviling the country is as a result lack of Discipline, Integrity, Dignity of Labour, Social, Justice, Religious Tolerance, Self-reliance and Patriotism.
He said more than ever before, Nigerian political class suffers “insufficiency of tolerance”, blind ambition without vision, “much needed compromises, patience and “unacceptable deficits of patriotism and cooperation” needed for nation building.
He therefore called for what he called a new political movement for a truly progressive Nigeria Movement for Progressive Nigeria MPN with new Democratic culture that “serves the people, the people, the people before self .” he said. “ Arise, O compatriots, Nigeria’s call obey, To serve our Fatherland, With love and strength and faith, The labour of our heroes past.” alluding to the first stanza of the national anthem.
