Former member of the House of Representatives and civil rights activist, Otunba Dino Melaye has bagged the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest for Kogi West Senatorial District in the 2015 general election.
A report from the office of Hon. Melaye further stated that he will therefore compete with the incumbent Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District and former National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr. Smart Adeyemi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The report further added that Adeyemi’s victory was shocking as he upstaged Tunde Ogbeha and Gen. David Jemibewon (retd) and defeated their anointed ‘son’.
It added that the Chairman, APC Primary Election Committee in Kogi State, Engr. Ebitei Francis and Secretary, Hon. Bala Ajeje, declared Dino Melaye winner having scored 2, 077 votes to defeat his rival, Bidemi Adeyemi, who scored 326 votes in the primary election which took place in Kabba.
