From Ahmed Abubakar, Dutse
In what may seem an open attack of President Jonathan’s administration, Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido has lashed out again that the petroleum minister Diezani Allison Madueke is more powerful than the entire federal government.
Lamido, who stated this yesterday, while receiving the Commissioner representing Jigawa state at the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Wazirin Gumel said it is rather unfortunate that so much frightening stories are coming to Nigerians about missing and unremitted funds under the ministry and yet nothing seems to be happening.
Governor Lamido who appeared visibly angry said Nigerians have a right to know how much is being realised from the sales of crude oil, how much is being remitted to the federation account by NNPC and other revenue generation agencies.
He said it is absolutely mischievous that the NNPC only remits what it feels like after it has taking what is theirs.
“It seems to me that there are ministers who are more powerful than the government that appoint them. How can an agency like NNPC deduct monies before remitting into the Federation Account? It is just like your salesman deducting his salary from the actual sale before giving you the money”.
“I think something is wrong somewhere. According to the constitution no one has the right to spend money that is not appropriated it is clear that all monies generated belongs to the Federation Account.”
Earlier, the RMAFC Commissioner said he was in the government house to introduce the new team in Jigawa and also solicit the cooperation of the state government in the discharge of their duties.
