The minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has been called upon to be fair to traders whenever he is embarking on the demolition exercise in the territory.
The Igbo leader (Ochi Igbo) of Wawa district unit, Dr. (Chief) Tobias Obiechina who made the call while speaking to Peoples Daily during the first end of the year party ceremony organized by the Igbo Community Assembly of Wawa unit in Aco estate, Abuja.
He noted that most of the Igbo traders and FCT indigenes whose shops were demolished have their genuine allocation papers being offered to them by the FCT Administration.
Obiechina expressed dismay the way at which the FCT Administration was demolishing the shops/markets without considering the plight of the traders.
He stressed the need for the FCT Administration to consult the traders before the demolition of their shops, noting that traders contribute greatly to the socio-economic growth of the FCT.
In his message to Igbos, the Ochi Igbo charged the Igbos to continue to live in peace with other tribes in the territory.
He further called on Igbos to always speak with one voice for the overall development of Igbo Community Assembly in the area and the FCT at large.
He therefore, advised Igbos residing in Abuja to deem it necessary to register their unions/associations with the central Igbo body in order to give them more recognition.
