The Delta State Internal Revenue Service has reminded all self-employed individuals and taxable adults working in the state of the need to file their individual tax returns in accordance with section 41(as amended) for the 2021 year of assessment, as the deadline of March 31, 2021 approaches.
In a statement in Warri by the Chairman of the Revenue Service, Sir Monday Onyeme, said that section 41(3) of the Personal Income Tax Act 2004 made it compulsory for self-employed individuals to file their tax returns on or before the March 31, 2021.
The section under reference also stated that “A taxable person can file with the relevant tax authority, the returns as stipulated in this section within 90days from the commencement of every year of assessment.”
The statement further urged those affected to endeavour to comply with this and other relevant tax laws, and to reach out to the tax office nearest to them for further inquiries.
