The Police in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State have arrested three persons over their alleged moves to cause crisis between herdsmen and the Kwale community.
The Police spokesperson, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the arrest of the persons in Asaba, gave the names of the suspects as Chukwudi Azuka, Collins Dumebi, John Emeka, adding that they were currently helping the police for further investigation.
It was gathered that the suspects allegedly demanded money from the herdsmen after which they tied them to tree.
He said the matter came to light because the victims escaped and reported the incident to the Police detectives in Kwale who immediately swung into action to arrest the suspects.
Also speaking on the incident, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on security, Ogbueshi Cassidy Iloba, decried the act, and warned people to desist from causing more trouble in the state.
Meanwhile, police operatives in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government area of Delta State have arrested a 19 year old armed robbery after he allegedly robbed a 45 year old lady of N10, 000 and other personal belongings.
It was gathered that victim, a civil servant with one of the government primary schools in Ibusa, was on her way to work, when three boys armed with cutlasses emerged from a nearby bush and robbed her of the bag containing the above mentioned money.
It was further learnt that the suspects also collected the victim’s Techno handset, house keys and other items before escaping into the bush.
But nemesis caught up with the leader of the gang when he was arrested right inside the bush with some of the stolen items.
Parading the suspect, Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammed Musatafa, said on receipt of the report, police detectives swung into action, combed the bush and arrested the suspect.
He said some of the stolen exhibits were recovered from the suspect including a Qlink Motorcycle, two cutlasses used for the operation.
