From: Nosa Akenzua, Asaba

The Obi of Owa in Delta state, HRM Emmanuel Efeizomor11 has described as poor services and unacceptable operations by Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), saying that its services were no longer required in Ika Lands.
The Monarch who spoke to Journalists in Asaba on Monday on the activities of BEDC over the years in Delta state, alleged that BEDC workings were inciting the people against President Muhammadu Buhari as the Company abysmally failed in its responsibility to supply power to Ika people and called on the Federal Government to terminate the contract of the Company on the grounds of incompetency and corruption.
According to him:” BEDC has failed us, they are not our friends and they don’t have sympathy, We the Ika people therefore call for immediate dismissal and removal from our lands, We have had enough of them,” noting that BEDC is sabotaging the efforts of Federal Government in huge disgrace especially as it has meted pains on his consumers and untold hardship and deprivation
Only last week, Some group of people in Agbor Community protested against poor Power supply by BEDC authorities in the area and called on Federal Government to as a matter of urgency sack the Company and replace with acceptable Company that will service its Customers better without outrageous bills and epileptic power supply.
But Obi Efeizomor while speaking further, said’ Poor electricity supply despite the Presence of electricity step down, estimated billing of Customers, none issuance of the approved pre- paid meters, among others are problems we are facing”
Meanwhile, the monarch has urged BEDC to embark on measures aimed at improving its Services and avoid undue exploitation of electricity Consumers through exorbitant bills sent to them every month, lamenting” it’s embarrassing that ever since the BEDC took over the power distribution in Ika Lands, the Consumers have been not only noticed poor quality services but high electricity bills which has not really matched the poor services being rendered to the people over the years”.
