From Nosa Akenzua, Asaba

The Delta State government has waded into the aged long crisis that has bedeviled Community Newspapers’ Publishers in the state
The state Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu who spoke to journalists on Tuesday in Asaba after addressing the aggrieved parties, stressed the need for all concerned stakeholders to work in harmony rather than be a divided union, adding that the state government would do everything possible to reconcile all aggrieved persons within the union.
While appreciating the union for its partnership with the state government, the Commissioner noted the need for all aggrieved persons to sit at a round table and harmonize their differences and arrive at a consensus even as he charged them on ways to become more formidable.
“I am aware that before the election of the Union, there was division in this group and I am also privileged to know how it all went through the process of trying to reconcile as one body but I don’t understand how the group has become splintered, what I think is for the leadership of the group to sit down with the aggrieved parties and reconcile and we as a government will play our own part to ensure peaceful coexistence among the members”Aniagwu
It would be recalled that Community Newspapers’ Publishers has been enveloped in the Crisis of Conference within its leadership in the last few years and amidst various petitions to the state government to ignore certain group of persons parading themselves as the leaders of the group.
But the state government through the Information Commissioner, Charles Aniagwu said that the state government waded into the crisis as part of her measures to ensure a Stronger Delta in Okowa led administration and for the interest of peaceful coexistence.
The Chairman of the group,Jude Obiemenyego in a swift reaction said that the aggrieved members of the group could not spelt out tangible reasons for their anger and however thanked the state government for its steps with a view to ensuring peaceful coexistence adding”we appreciate Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for supporting us and we shall continue to uphold robust working relationship with the state government”
