Group under the platform of Parliamentary Democrats Group (PDG) in the House of Representatives had called on the vice president not to allow himself to be used to desecrate the institution of the National Assembly or to perpetuate any illegality under his watch as acting President.
The law makers have alleged plot by pro-government senators, financed by the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo to destabilize the National Assembly and intimidate legislators who had defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The parliamentarians, in a statement issued earlier, said leaders of the APC, under the national chairman, Adams Oshiomole, have resolved to clamp down on the National Assembly in an extreme desperation to stifle opposition members of the federal parliament.
They stated, “We are keeping vigil and ready to face them. We also warn APC factional chairman, Adams Oshiomole, who seems to have reaped enough from democracy, yet is ready to destroy it.
“We have it on good authority that the Vice President is set to dole out money from government coffers to sway members of the 2 chambers against their leadership but this plan has already failed.
“We will resist it and ensure that the integrity, sanctity and independence of the National Assembly is upheld and members are allowed to freely associate with political parties that will enable them deliver the dividend of democracy to their constituents.
“The acting president is hereby advised to maintain the integrity that goes with his position as the acting president and Senior Advocate of Nigeria and disassociate himself from these groups of desperate politicians.”
