From Mustapha Adamu, Kano.

There was panic and confusion in Tudun Yola area of Gwale local government area in Kano State when the residents found mutilated dead body of woman dumped in a ditch early morning, yesterday.

An eyewitness, Mus’abu Aliyu, who is a petroleum black marketer at the area, said he saw a Ghana- must- go bag dumped by the ditch near his table as he came out around 6:30am to start his business, adding that he quickly drew attention of people towards the bag.

According to him, they summoned courage to open the bag because they thought it could be a bomb or any other harmful object, but to their shock, they found a mutilated body of a woman tucked inside the bag.

He added that the woman was gruesomely murdered as she was beheaded and her thighs, limbs and some parts of the body were also amputated.

Aliyu added that “seeing the horrific event, we quickly called Police from Rijiyar Zaki division. They came and examined the corpse and snapped pictures. They asked us some questions and we gave them the answers, then they came back around 8:30 am and evacuated it .It was a very horrific situation.” He said

Some disgruntled residents attributed the atrocity to politicians who are hell-bent on winning elections by hook or crook in the wake of next month’s general elections, stressing however that they have never witnessed such a tragic incident in the area.

The state’s Police Public Relation Officer, Magaji Musa Majiya, confirmed the incident, saying that the body of the yet-to-be identified woman has been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.

He added that investigations are still ongoing to unravel the mystery behind the gruesome act.
