The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said that former Senate President, Senator Mark remains one of the leading lights of Nigeria whose selfless contributions towards the unity, stability and development of our country stand him out as an exceptional patriot.
The PDP specifically declared that Mark’s contributions as an officer, a military administrator, cabinet minister, democratically elected senator and then as two term president of the senate, stand him out as an exceptional patriot.
The party said this a statement yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Koka Ologbondiyan in Abuja.
The main opposition party recalled that Senator Mark’s political sagacity as president of the senate in pulling the nation from the brinks of constitutional crisis and ensuring a stable polity, massive economic development, national cohesion and Constitutional order that characterized the PDP administration at that the time.
The PDP saluted Senator Mark, who clocked 73 years yesterday, saying,
“at this auspicious occasion and pray to God to bless him with many more years in good health for the benefit of our dear nation”.
The statement reads in part, “Senator Mark remains one of the leading lights of our nation, whose selfless contributions towards the unity, stability and development of our country as an officer, a military administrator, cabinet minister, democratically elected senator and then as two term president of the senate, stand him out as an exceptional patriot.
“Our party recalls Senator Mark’s political sagacity as president of the senate in pulling our nation from the brinks of constitutional crisis and ensuring a stable polity, massive economic development, national cohesion and Constitutional order that characterized the PDP administration at that the time.
“The PDP salutes Senator Mark at this auspicious occasion and prays to God to bless him with many more years in good health for the benefit of our dear nation”, it said.
