Dankwambo donates N3m to Nigerian legion in Gombe

Gombe state governor ,Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has donated the sum of N3million to assist in improving the living standard of Nigerian legion in Gombe state.

The governor who was represented by his deputy, Mr. Tha’anda Jason Rubainu made the donation yesterday in Gombe during the occasion of the 2014/2015 armed forces Remembrance Day and emblem appeal fund held at the women centre in Gombe.

He called on the members of the Nigerian legion Gombe state chapter as a matter of urgency to mobilize its members to assist towards tackling the security challenges in their respective local government council by reporting suspicious persons to the security agencies for prompt action.

Speaking further, the governor said it is important to note that the occasion is not only to remember the fallen heroes but it is also an opportunity for a sober reflections among citizens, adding that the significance of the event was aimed at generating funds in order to support security agencies who died on active service.

He appealed to individuals and organizations to donate generously so as to assist the fallen heroes and urged the public to continue to live in peace with one another irrespective of their differences,

The governor stressed government commitment saying that his administration had listened to the request of the Nigerian legion in the state and would look into the matter.

Speaking earlier, the chairman Nigerian legion Gombe state chapter, Warrant officer Ibrahim Madaki who was represented by staff sergeant Abdullahi Isa appealed to the state government to assist the body with a piece of land in order to build its secretariat.

He also called on government to assist its members by providing them with seats to holy land even as he said Nigerian legion are hundred percent supportive of the present administration.
