Dalung urges govs to engage youths’ minds with sports

The minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung has called on state governors to use security votes in their domains to develop sports.
The minister stated this during the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of Light Stadium in Duste, a suburb in the Federal Capital Territory, over the weekend.
The minister who was represented by his Special Adviser on Youth Affairs, Mr Abubakar Barde expressed satisfaction at the level of the construction of the Stadium and other training facilities in the camp of the players. He described the construction of the field as the gateway to keeping youths out of the street and engaging them productively for a better Nigeria and their families.
Barde added that the provision of training facilities for young Nigerians is a way of securing the future of talented Nigerian youths.
The minister described the construction of Water FC Light Stadium in Dutse-Apo Abuja as a right step in right direction that will add values to the development of Sports in the country.
According to him, “I will like to apologize on behalf of the minister of youth and sports development for his absence here today, he would have love to be here but he is Asaba to represent the Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari (GCON). Dalung is an advocate of this kind of sports development project. As he always says, state governors should use Security Vote to develop sports. What we need is to engage the youths productively in sporting activities such as this.
“With this kind of project duplicated across the country, crime will be eliminated in the country. I am optimistic that when I present my report to him, he will be happy and will like to be here soon to see for himself.”

Speaking during the inspection visit, the president, Water Football Club, Mr Nureni Makanjuola described the day as one of his happiest day on earth adding that he was happy that his dream of building a stadium for his club has finally come through.

“It is a great day for me particularly for the Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung to recognise and also promise to be part of this project. I am fulfilled by achieving one of my goals on earth by the construction of Water FC stadium”

Fondly Call MK, the president expressed optimism that the construction of the 1,000 capacity community stadium will be completed by June 2019. The aim of the project according to him is to take young talented Nigerian youths off the street by bringing the God-given talents in them for the benefit of themselves, families and the nation.

“The minister’s presence and support means a lot to the construction of the 1,000 capacity community stadium which is expected to by by June 2019. We aim to use the facilities to take young talented Nigerian youth off the street and make them to use their God-given talents to benefit themselves and the nation.” He concluded.
