The Coalition of Registered political parties (CRPP), has called on Edo State Government to provide life insurance policy for all vigilance members in the State.
The State Chairman of the group, Dr. Samson Isibor disclosed this at an interactive session with journalists at the Weekend in Benin City where he implored the Government to prioritize the welfare of the people.
Isibor also tasked the State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki to set up a Commission for the groups as it done in other climes, adding that the initiative would served as a moral bolster for vigilance members for effective service delivery.
“Obaseki should set up a security Network that is well established with a legislative backing in form of a Commission so that anybody that is recruited by the Government.
“There should be insurance policy for vigilance members so that if anything happen to them, their families would be compensated.
“The Constabulary that was set up by the State Government recently is a jamboree. In the presence of those Constabulary, killer herdsmen are ravaging all nooks and crannies of Edo State.
“God to Ondo State, those Fulani herdsmen that they drove from Ondo State are coming to Edo State. You are setting up vigilante groups. But, you did not do it in a formal way.
“I just pity all vigilante people because there is no insurance for them. They will just kill them like fowl. How can you arm people with dane guns to fight Fulani herdsmen? I pity them. We have intelligent people in Edo State.
“What we want to him is to provide welfare for the people. People are suffering. There is insecurity everywhere in Edo State. What has he done about herdsmen menace? he asked.
