From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna
A group of Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in Niger State identified as ‘Patriotic Members’ has accused former governor Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu of causing disunity in the party and however passed vote of no confidence on him.
The group led by the former deputy governor, Dr Nuhu Shem Zagbayin made the disclosure yesterday in a press briefing held at press centre in Minna saying that he is planing to disintegrate the party for selfish reasons non to him as he left power without even a councilor from the party.
He said that he single handedly distributed free forms to some members to contest the forthcoming party congress after its closure and adoption of resolution in a meeting as presented by the three geo – political zone which he presided over.
Dr Zagbayin further stated that,
“Several artificial issues have been created by members of the party working hand in hand with the ruling APC. These issues include partiality of the caretaker committee in the past 3 months, working assiduously to impose an unpopular, unprepared and rejected aspirant.
He added that those involved were those who betrayed the party and worked against it leading to its failure in 2015 and 2019 respectively.
“The caretaker’s refusal to call any meeting since their inauguration for the past 3 months. The caretaker has turned itself into a willing tool of Witchhunt in dealing with party members culminating in the issuance of illegal queries to 20 LGA caretaker chairmen who refused to attend a meeting to endorse an unpopular candidate.
“Similarly, we are aware that there are plans in which Chief Secondus’s name has kept flying that, akin to the fake, illegal brandishing of new forms 5 months after closure of sales, the national chairman has issued them with Congress result sheets to be filled and taken to Abuja, his office for announcement of the unpopular candidate against the wish of the people in Niger State” he stated.
The event was attended by Senator Zainab Kure, Hon. Ndako Idris former SSG to Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, former Minister Achituwo, two term running mate of governorship candidate Barrister Mohammad Ndayeko, and many other prominent PDP members.
