Fresh crisis over alleged imposition of candidates and its related practice are currently rocking the boats of the Delta State chapter Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abraka Communities, Oshimili South and North Local Government Council areas of the state.
It was gathered that leadership of the various wards in the areas have allegedly adopted imposition of candidates as ways of ensuring their candidates’ victory in the huddles of the scheduled party primaries soon to be conducted across the state.
Unconfirmed sources said these leaders, to ensure unhindered victory for their candidates, are allegedly enmeshed in bribe taking, and had in their secret meetings, resolved that it was the only way they could make their money.
But a group under the aegis of Sensitive Abraka indigenes on Monday in a statement issued, and Signed by its Coordinator, Akpojivi Williams, a copy made available to our Correspondent, said that it would not allow the elders and leaders of the party to trade with the destinies Of Many of the party members under the guise of harmonization.
The group Maintained that power belongs to the people as the leaders of the party have always aimed, insisting that the people must be allowed to choose their representatives via a true, fair and credible party Primaries, and not favoritism, greed and selfish interest.
Recall that the stakes was triggered with Palpable fear of the unknown a month ago after the party purported harmonization meeting that was convened by its leaders in the areas with a view to choosing a Consensus Candidates, but ended in a dead lock.
The group further claimed that imposition of Candidates in the party, has set the party aback enough, insisting that the ploy by the elders to foist any candidate to represent the people, particularly the Delta State House of Assembly come 2019, Would be resisted.
Part of the statement reads “We demand nothing from our leaders, but a transparent primaries to enable us choose the candidates of our choice to represent us, we will defect if the leaders are not ready to change, we have suffered great pains, deprivation and defeats in elections due to imposition of unsellable and unwanted candidates on us, we will not take this from this so called leaders”.
Meanwhile, Oshimili South and North Councils, a political pressure group,”Oshimili South and North Arise”, has urged the party to provide a level playing ground for aspirants in its primaries, and called on the state Governor, Dr, Ifeanyi Okowa to ensure that fairness prevailed in the exercise in the state, especially in Oshimili South and North Councils.
The group”s president, Dr, Ndu Ojejeh, and its Secretary, Carl Enumah who spoke to Journalists in Asaba on Monday, claimed that in the forthcoming primaries in the areas, the Leaders of the party had allegedly deployed unsavory measures against one Barrister Frank Esnwah, the only aspirant from the community, adding that Since 1991 the state was created, Ibusa community for instance, had continued to Occupy all political offices at all levels available to the entire local government area, thereby alienating other Communities.

But in a swift reaction, The state Chairman of the party, Barrister Kingsley Essiso who spoke to Journalists in Asaba said” we are looking into the protests of alleged imposition in our great party, PDP is not Known for imposition, it may not be true, but we are investigating the allegations, and any leader found in the act, will face severe punishment” and boasted that PDP will win all it’s elections across the Country.
