The newly posted Yobe state Police commissioner, Mr. Markus Koleti Danladi has called on the public to be watchful of the tactics of terrorists, so as to alert security agents for quick intervention.
Danladi made the call recently, when the members of the Yobe state Correspondent’s Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), led by its chairman, Mohammed Abubakar, paid him a visit in his office in Damaturu.
These tactics, he said, include: packing explosive-loaded vehicles at strategic places or inside household items such as handbags; used cartons of known food items; living in uncompleted buildings located at or near the outskirts of the town, among others.
Meanwhile, the emir of Potiskum, Umaru Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa told journalists that religious and community leaders have the duty to disabuse the minds of the people, especially the youths from both religious and political sentiments.
He emphasized the need for all leaders to work together with security agencies in their domains, to ensure peace and security for meaningful development of the areas, which would in turn improve the living standard of the people.
The emir urged community leaders to form associations that would encourage community surveillance, so as to cover public places.
