Covid-19 patient on the run in Delta

There is panic at present in Delta State following the unknown whereabouts of suspected Covid-19 patient in Ubulu Uku Community in the state.
It was gathered that the patient, a female ( namewitheld) in the community tested positive to the Covid-19 Pandemic disease, a situation she billed to have been moved to Asaba for quarantine.
But overnight our informed Sources said the patient allegedly escaped through a relation and the bush path into unknown destination.
Confirming this, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Ononye Mordi said that the state government had set out with security agents to fish out the patient adding that the state government as Committed to the wellbeing of Deltans would ensure that the patient under go treatment when fished out by security operatives in the state.
Sources said that the state health officials had informed the patient that they were coming to move her to Asaba when she escaped during week hours to an unknown destination with the help of her relation in the community.
Speaking further, the Health Commissioner said” the woman tested positive when the health officials took her sample for testing following her alleged coming in contact with someone who had earlier tested positive. The woman was through contact tracing by the health officials who took her blood sample for testing following her alleged coming in contact with someone who had earlier tested positive, and her blood sample was taken and it was later proved to be positive, following this, the health officials Called her and informed her that they were coming to move her to Asaba Isolation Center , and instead of waiting, she escaped in the night”.
Mordi further disclosed that the woman and her husband left the local government entirely and all efforts to trace her have not yeild results, adding” the problem we faced with now is that no one knows where they gone to and the greater danger is that they may have spread it further to unsuspecting members of the public, we admit our mistake in Informing her first, we should discreetly moved in and picked her up for treatment”.
An Indigene of Ubulu Uku Community who gave her name as Ashimedua who spoke to our Correspondent said that the situation has placed residents of the community in a precarious situation, adding” it would have been safer for them if they knew who the woman is and the people she has met with, because as it stands now, we don’t know the people she had come in contact with, I think the health officials should intensify efforts to commence testing on others in Ubulu Uku Community”.
Meanwhile, panic Continues in the state, Particularly within Government House and Secretary to the State Government ( SSG) Office following the positive two top officials of the state tested to Covid-19 Pandemic disease.
The State Governor, Mr Ifeanyi Okowa on Tuesday ordered Complete test for all workers in Government House, SSG Office and the state Ministry of Information.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ifejika Olisa had on Sunday announced that two officials of the State: Mr Charles Aniagwu, Commissioner for Information, and Secretary to the State Government ( SSG) tested positive to Covid-19 Pandemic, adding that they were however responding to treatment.
