A 19 year old animal breeder, Ibrahim Malum, of Allajiri settlement in Maisandari ward, Damaturu, in Yobe state, has been sentenced by the Senior Magistrate Court 11, on three-count charge of House trespass, theft and attempt to escape from lawful arrest.
Police Prosecutor, Mathias Oche, told the court that the case was reported to the police by one Al-Hassan Saleh, of Maduri ward, Damaturu on the 4th of September, 2014 at about 0900 hours.
Oche told the court that on the 3rd of September, 2014, at about 2100 hours, the accused person, Ibrahim Malum entered into the house of one Al-Hassan Saleh and stole one sheep, valued at N10,000.00.
The prosecutor also told the court that, on visiting the scene of the crime, the suspect attempted to escape from lawful custody.
Oche said the offences committed by the accused person contradict sections 349, 287 and 173 of the Penal Code law.
The Presiding Judge, Gambo A. Ibrahim, sentenced the convict to serve six months imprisonment or pay a fine of N2, 500 on the 1st count charge of house trespass and to serve another six months imprisonment, or pay a fine of N2, 500 on the second charge of theft.
On the third count charge of attempt to escape from lawful custody, the convict was sentenced to one year imprisonment without any option of fine.
