A teenager, Emmanuel John, was on Thursday remanded in prison custody by a Kubwa Magistrates’ Court in Abuja for allegedly stealing a Nokia cell phone, valued at N5,000.

John, 18, residing in Flat 2, Block 26, Phase two, Site two in Kubwa, is facing a count charge of theft.

The Prosecutor, Cpl. Igonoh Ocholi, told the court that on Feb. 28, one Emmanuel Iheanacho of Road 315 FHA, Kubwa, lodged a complaint at the Kubwa Police Station against John.

Ocholi he said that on Feb. 27, the accused dishonestly stole his Nokia cell phone, valued at N5,000 entrusted to him by one Ebuka Alozie.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr Jubril Kutigi, observed that the accused had been convicted two times for criminal offences and ordered that he should be remanded without bail.

Kutigi, however, adjourned the case to March 17. (NAN)
