The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, yesterday, ordered a substituted service on Mr Ahmed Idris, the Accoutant-General of the Federation.
Justice Taiwo Taiwo ordered the plaintiff in the suit, Incorporated Trustees of Youth Empowerment and Equal Justice to serve the originating summon on any staff or official of the office of the AGF.
The plaintiff had through its counsel, Mr Obnna Amohra, had prayed the court to order the removal of Mr Idris from office.
According to the suit, filed on the Feb17, 2021, Mr. Idris is illegally occupying the office of the AGF, having reached the mandatory retirement age of 60years and 35 years of service as a public servant.
Specifically, he prayed the court to direct Idris to forthwith refund to the Federal Govenment of Ngeria all salaries, emoluments, entitlements and other benefits received, collected or paid to him
in the capacity of the accountant-general of the federation from 25”
November, 2020 till date of his retirement.
Idris was expected to retire from service as the AGF on November 25, 2020.
The plaintiff, after being unable to serve the defendant with the originationg summon approached the court for an order of substituted service.
In his ruling on the application for substituted service, Justice Taiwo held, ‘’ Leave is hereby granted to the Applicant to serve the Originating Processes and/or any other process to be filed and served in this suit upon the 1” Defendant by delivery to any staff at the office of the Hon. Attorney General of the Federation at the Attorney General’s Chambers, Federal Ministry of Justice, Shehu Shagari Way, Maitama, Abuja.
‘’Leave is hereby granted to the Applicant to serve the Originating Processes/and/or any other process to be filed and served in this Suit upon the 3 Defendant by delivery to staff or officer at the office of the Account-General of the Federation at Treasury House, Plot 1570 Samuel Ladoke-Akintola Barlevard, Abuja.’’
