Correspondents Chapel empowers members with hand sanitizers, cash in Delta community

Sokoto State Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists has empowered its members with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as part of efforts to ensure their safety while discharging their statutory responsibility in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.
The chairman of the chapel, Mallam Habibu Harisu while presenting the items advised members to always take measures to protect themselves in the line of duty.
The chairman further disclosed that the distribution of hand sanitizers and cash is to empower journalists to effectively delivered on their job.
According to Harisu: “the exco members of this chapel decided to go for this items to encourage members in doing their job at this trying period.
“It is also worthy to note that only Usman Danfodiyo University (UDUS), that donated about five sanitizers to this chapel in the state.
“We also realized that due to the partial lockdown as a result of COVID-19, in which prices of food and other household commodity has suddenly jerked up by the marketers.
“It was with this aforementioned reason that we also decided to raise some little cash for our members to cushion the effects,” he added.
He, however, welcome other corporate bodies as well as government agencies who are willing to offer Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as their gesture.
