Niger state Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has announced the appointment the correspondents Chairman of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Alhaji Tanko Dada as the Director-General Public Affairs in his Information Management Team.
According to a signed statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Israel A. Ebije, Alhaji Dada was of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Until his appointment, he was the state Bureau Chief of the agency in Minna, Niger state.
The statement further intimated that Dada who was born in 1962 started his career as a journalist in the Niger state ministry of information in 1988. He left the ministry same year to pick up appointment in NAN as a reporter.
According to governor Aliyu’s spokesman, the newly appointed Director-General was considered for the job based on recognition of his hard work, dedication and commitment to duty.
The newly appointed Director, Public Affairs, who is from Paikoro local government area of Niger state bagged a Diploma from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism in 1986. He also has a National Higher Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), in 2001.
Dada continued his academic pursuit in his quest to attain height of professional competence when he bagged a post-graduate diploma from the IIJ in 2003. He was until his appointment the correspondents’ chapel of NUJ chairman in Minna. He is married to two wives and has 8 children.
