Following the closure of schools across the country, the Kebbi State Government has taken another measure step against contracting the novel coronavirus disease (Covd-19) by organising distance learning for pupils and students at Primary, Secondary and Integrated Quranic Schools across the state.
The programme which was supported by the EAC/UNICEF project under the Sokoto field office in collaboration with the Kebbi State Government through the Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education will be for the period of three months.
The distance learning programme tagged E-Learning will be done through the state owned media houses such as Kebbi TV, Kebbi Radio Vision FM Equity TV and Brinkles FM adding that both primary schools pupils and their Integrated Quranic School counterparts are will be taught lessons on RANA, HASKE and ESSPIN lessons (Numeracy, Literacy and Science).
Speaking with newsmen at the weekend, the Hon. Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Alhaji Muhammadu Magawata Aliero said that the implementation of the programme will be done in schools across the state.
“The initiative is being jointly handled by the state Ministries of Basic and Secondary Education, Technology and Information in collaboration with UNICEF” he added.
“While the lessons being aired by the media houses are handled by professional personnel under the aegis of Teacher Development Team (TDT) drawn from the state government and the local government education authorities.”
