Following the continued reckless misinformation to members of the public by mischief makers on coronavirus, the Delta State Government on Sunday warned those behind the frequent misinformation to the public, especially about Covid-19 pandemic, saying that it might be forced to take necessary steps to fish them out.
Director General, Delta State Orientation Bureau, Barr Uzum Azuka Eugene who spoke to our Correspondent in Asaba, Confirmed that fake news about Covid-19 Pandemic disease had over times, enveloped the state in shock, considering the spread that it does not exist, rather formulated by the state government to divert funds into personal pockets
While urging the fake news carriers to desist from such unwholesome activities, Barr Uzum explained” We are shocked when many people in the state still say that existence of the Pandemic in the country and the state is a scam,” wondering what states and the Federal Government stood to gain from shutting down all sectors of the economy, if not to curb the spread of the dreaded virus and save lives of citizens of the country.
Uzum however, lamented the stories emanating from some of the discharged patients from the Isolation Centers, who instead of being grateful to the state government for giving them free quality Medicare while in the Centres, resorted to misinforming the public on the existence of the Pandemic in the state, thereby Creating Carefree attitude among residents concerning the Protocols of the virus.
He said that everyone by the state government on Curbing the spread of the dreaded disease was tailored towards saving residents from contracting and spreading the Pandemic in the state, adding that it runs against the grain of proper reasoning for any government to commit huge resources In Combating a Pandemic disease that is not in existence
