The Nigeria Medical Association NMA chairman, Nasarawa State chapter Dr. Bulus Peter Umaru has advocated for the training and retraining of medical health workers in the state in order to tackle Covid 19 when the need arises.
Dr. Bulus who made the call while in interview with newsmen in Lafia the state capital on the level of preparedness by the state government as well as the health workers in the state.
According to him, “we are happy that the Governor has constituted a committee which is chaired by the Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe who is a renowned physician in respect to the Covid 19 virus.
“The Governor has done well in the area of disseminating information to the citizens through the media outfits in the state on the dreaded disease Covid 19. This is what is expected of a leader. Information dissemination is paramount especially on Covid 19 virus.”
He continued, “I am happy that people are complying with the instructions given. I am happy that we have isolation centres in designated location across the state in case of eventuality”.
Dr. Bulus further admonished people to stay at home as well as avoid over crowdy area; adding that social distance should be observed and self-isolation as according to him “accept those on essential duties.”
“The symptoms of the disease include coughing, difficulty in breathing and fever. Visit the nearest centre for medical attention in case there is any symptom of the disease.” Dr. Bulus said.
