The contractor handling the construction of the Yobe international cargo airport has assured to complete and handover the project to the state government by April, 2019.
The contractor, Air Vice Marshal Alkali Mamu, rtd of JM&AS limited gave the assurance yesterday when the state governor, Alh. Ibrahim Gaidam paid an inspection visit to the cite.
The contract which was awarded at the initial cost of about N11.3 billion now has an additional cost of about N4 billion due to added expansion works to meet required standard.
Some of the new works includes the expansion of the runway from original length of 3.1 to 4.1 with the dept increase of from 1 to 3.3 meters.
Speaking during the inspection, the governor commended the contractor for good quality and standard of work he saw, at a low cost, assuring to recommend it to the coming administration in the state
