The killing of the Zonal Vice Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Adamawa South, Saidu Sale Kolaku by suspected gun men in the wee hours of Saturday has sparked up condemnations in Adamawa state.
It could be recalled that late Kolaku was trailed to his private residence at Sabon pegi area in Mayo Belwa town and shot him to death at close reach.
Public Relations Officer of the Association in the state,Muhammadu JIka Buba described the killing as cowardice, predicting that it could be the handiwork of aggrieved men of the underworld to avenge his role in fighting criminality in the state.
Buba speculated that the contributions of late Kolaku in tackling kidnapping and cattle rustling must have been a serious stumbling block to his assassins.
‘’Because efforts of Kolaku in fighting crime had made the Police command to honour him on 17th July 2019, for his gallantry and valiant exploits in fighting kidnappers and cattle rustlers rampaging the state.
‘’It’s unfortunate that the death of our zonal leader will seriously undermine the fight against crime and criminality in the state,’’ said he.
In his reaction to the development, Mallam Ibrahim Joda said their late leader was very active to his responsibilities and that posterity will be fair to him.
Joda collaborated that Kolaku had been assisting security operatives in tracking down kidnappers and other criminals and was recently honored by the state police command Confirming the incident, Sulaiman Y. Nguroje police spokesman in the state said, ‘’ unknown gunmen stormed the resident of the Fulani leader located at Sabon Pegi in Mayo Belwa local government, shot him and left him in the pool of his blood.
‘’Following the incident, a distress call was forwarded to the police who rushed to the scene and took the victim to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
Nguroje, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) said already Adamawa State police commissioner has dispatched men of the homicide department to unravel the mystery behind the killing of the Fulani leader.
‘’ Indeed, police received the death of the slain man with shock because of his invaluable contribution towards fighting crime and criminality especially his gallantry in the fight against kidnappers.
‘’The command has launched manhunt for the fleeing culprits and God’s willing , they will be tracked down and brought to justice,” Nguroje assured
