Following the ongoing Muslim’s religious crisis between the Fulani and Hausa in Salwai Village, of Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State,the National Chairman of Islahiddini Foundation of Nigeria, Mallam Umar Liman Gidan Buhari Shagari has called on the Kebbi State Government to urgently intervene on the resolution of the crisis before it escalated to the high levels.
Briefing journalists in Birinin Kebbi, the national chairman said that, the crisis started when the Chief Imam of the village died and the next person to late Imam is a Fulani man while Hausa people who are the visitor’s said that another Fulani man cannot lead them for Friday congregations prayers.
Shagari who lamented that several ways of resolving the issue were made through the security agents, traditional rulers and local government but prove abortive, urge the Kebbi State Government to urgently intervene on the matter in order to restore peace in the community.
“We want to seize this opportunity to inform the public that we stand for the admirable values of Islam, upholding the teaching Of the Quran and Sunnah of the prophet, we are peacemakers, we are not revolting against the teaching of Islam as well as we are submissive to political, traditional and religious leaders in Nigeria,” he added.
Confirming the crisis to newsmen in Bunza, the Secretary, Bunza Local Government Council Alhaji Garba Ibrahim Gazza said that the case is before the Local Government while the committee was setup to resolve the matter, urge the people to remain calm as both the council and traditional rulers are working hard in order to restore peace in the community.
“Very soon we are going to submit our report to the appropriate channel and peace will come back to the area, the Emir of Gwandu is also aware of the case because letter were written to the different stakeholders in order to have peace of mind,” he said.
