The Command Secondary School (CSS) Suleja in Niger State has graduated over 250 students in this year’s academic session.
The Commandant of the school, Colonel Mohammed Bashir Akilu made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen during the 9th graduation ceremony which took place at the school multipurpose hall on Thursday, advising the outgoing students to be good ambassadors of the school in anywhere they go.
Akilu expressed with joy that the school has the good number of qualified teachers from the Federal Ministry of Defence, pointing out that the school also has qualified temporary staff in place.
He said his administration would continue to partner with the PTA of the school to provide the needed infrastructural facilities in the institution in the interest of the students.
While presenting his speech, he urged the graduands to always exhibit the tenets of what they had learnt in the school, applauding them for their zeal, patience, sacrifice and doggedness in their educational pursuit throughout their stay in the institution.
His words: “It is barely six months ago when I assumed duty as the 10th Commandant of this great institution. As I fully took over, I saw the need of ensuring that the set of graduands before you today make the school proud by recording very high performance in their SSC examinations. It is in this regard that some subject areas such English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Government were given special attention”.
“First of all, we extended the prep period by two extra hours and provided past questions and answers at no cost to the parents, we also invited resource persons in the affected subject areas from neighbouring higher institution, who along with our wonderful teachers drilled our students for three hours daily preparing them for their WAEC and NECO examinations”, the Commandant explained.
Also speaking, the Guest Speaker of the occasion, Brigadier-General Bello A. Tsoho, A Director from the Research and Innovation NARC, Abuja who presented a paper tagged “Achieving Self – reliance Through Personal Development Efforts”, counseled the students to pursue their goals with self-determinations.
In their separate interviews, the Registrar of the Nigerian Army University Biu, Borno State, Brigadier –General Shuaibu Ibrahim who was the 6th Commandant of the CSS Suleja and alongside the Executive Director of Army Force Radio Abuja, Brigadier–General Hamza Gambo expressed happiness the manner at which the management and the entire staff of the school were grooming and nurturing the students educationally.
On his part, the father of the day, the Emir of Suleja, Alhaji Muhammadu Awwual Ibrahim who was represented at the occasion, Commended the Commandant and the teachers for their efforts in providing an enabling environment for the students to enhance learning.
