By Usman Shuaibu

A senior pastor in charge of the Christ the King Chapel Kutunku in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT, Rev. (Dr) Simon Peter Igbadi, has called on the Federal Government to remove the oil subsidy in the interest of Nigerians.
Igbadi who made the call in an interview with our correspondent in Gwagwalada, said the oil subsidy must be removed because it is characterised by corruption.
He said: “Why I want the oil subsidy to go, it is because a few people are benefiting from that money we have been spending on the oil subsidy”.
“The oil subsidy must go because it is hindering us from developing other industrial areas”, he added.
His words: “The oil subsidy must go because it is not helping the generality of Nigerians”, he said.
He explained that when Obasanjo was the President of the country, he registered 18 companies with the purpose of refining our oil, saying since then, none of that company was refining our oil today.
According to the clergyman, the past government in the country had spent billions of naira to establish Port Harcourt NNPC, Warri and so on without refining our oil.
He, therefore, appealed to the government of the day to deem it necessary to establish more industries in order to pave the way for jobs creation in the country.
