Cleric institutes academic award for Nasarawa school

A Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Anyembugu has been commended for instituting academic award of excellence for students of Government Secondary School, Aloce, Nasarawa state.

Making the commendation, the manager of Tons Computer Ltd, Abuja, Dr. Nosa Uwei said the gesture was exemplary as it was selfless.

According to him, the society needs such people to enhance development of all sectors of the economy. “Even though relatively modest, it is quite exemplary. The more compatriots like him we have who can contribute their quota to the progress of their society or community, or school, church or mosque, the better for all of us”, Uwei said.

Scheduled to hold at the school’s auditorium along the Keffi-Akwanga highway today, June 27, the award ceremony is expected to be graced by dignitaries from different walks of life, including community and religious leaders, royal fathers, educationists as well as old students of G.S.S Aloce.

According to the cleric, who graduated from the school 20 years ago, and is also a prolific author, “In appreciation of the significant role the school played in my life and indeed the lives of a generation of other students, I have decided to contribute my widow’s mite by giving awards to brilliant students of the college,” he stated.
