The Chairman Ulama’u Counsil of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’ikamatis Sunnah, Sheik Sani Yahaya Jingir, has condemned the recent killings and destruction of properties that erupted some villages in Plateau state.
The cleric equally condemned the blocking of highway and killing of travellers , and commiserated with the state government and families of victims who were injured or killed in the carnage.
Jingir who made the condemnation over the weekend at the headquarters of the group called on both federal and state government to strengthen the security forces in the state and other trouble states across the country to avert the recurrence of the carnage.
The Islamic cleric further accused politicians of being responsible of the crisis.
He said , “Politicians should be held responsible for the killings. People should not be allowed to be used by anybody for surreptitious objectives.”
Jingir, however, said that, “ it is not good for religious leaders or group to be organising protest because that would not help the situation.”
He further called on government to investigate the matter and brought the perpetrators to book.
