Cleric attributes nation’s underdevelopment to poor leadership

Chief Imam of Central Mosque in Gwagwalada in the FCT, Malam Muhammadu Musa, has identified leadership problem at all levels, to the obstacle stalling the nation’s development.

Musa, who stated this in an interview with Peoples Daily in Gwagwalada, said that despite the nation’s endowments poor leadership has continued to limit its capacity to harness resources for meaningful development.

He said “We have everything it takes for a country to transform, but we are yet to develop”. Adding that good leadership is what the country needs to elevate Nigeria for it to be in the ranks of the greatest nations of the world.

He urged Nigerian leaders to place national interest above any other personal considerations; in order to enable the country realise its true potentials.

He then called on government at all levels to tackle infrastructural decay, especially the situation of roads and poor power supply in the country. The religious leader, however, lauded the senate on the passage of bill against same-sex marriage in the country, pointing out that the act is sinful, immoral and prohibited.
