Director, Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency, (FEMA), Alhaji Abbas Idriss has cautioned recalcitrant developers in the Territory, to ensure they adhere to building regulations, in order to save lives and property in the New Year and beyond.
This is coming on the heels of the Christmas tragedy that occurred when a building collapsed, killing three labourers, with three others injured, at Jabi, in Utako District of Abuja.
The Director spoke through the Head,Search & Rescue of the Agency, Chief Superintendent Suleiman Anas, reiterated that recalcitrant developers should have a change of mind in 2015.
According to a statement by Head, Public Relations Unit of the Agency, Josie Mudasiru, three people died in the latest incident of building collapse in FCT, while two persons are currently receiving treatment at Gwarimpa General Hospital.
The statement noted that the FEMA , National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other stakeholders responded to the incident which happened at about 10.14 am on Christmas day.
It added that FEMA boss sympathises with family of the victims, while calling on residents to continue to be safety conscious at all times.
