Christmas: FCTA distributes rice, cows to disabled, needy

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), yesterday distributed cows, rice and vegetable oil to the disabled and needy persons, to enable them have a memorable Christmas celebrations in the Territory.
A total of fourteen (14) cows and one hundred and forty(140) bags of rice and cartons of vegetable oil were doled out to fourteen (14) welfare Associations in FCT.
The beneficiaries include School for the Handicapped, Kuje; Vocational Rehabilitation Centre, Bwari; School for the Deaf, Kuje; School for the Blind, Jabi; and Lapers Colony.
Others are Karimajiji Disabled Community; Motherless Babies Home, Karu; Unity Orphanage Home, Gwako; Al Ansar Home; Destitute Support Society, Kuchibena.
Also, FCT Para Soccer Team, Area 10-Garki; Community for Welfare of the Weak, Elderly and less privileged, Kubusa; and Community based Vocational Rehabilitation Centre, Zuba took part in the sharing of the items.
Presenting the items to representatives of the 14 groups, the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, said the FCT Administration made the donations, in the spirit of the season.
Bello, who was represented by the FCTA Permanent Secretary, Mr. Christian Ohaa, stressed the gesture was born out of the desire for everyone to fully take part in celebration of Christmas, in line with the essence of the of the festive season.
Earlier, while welcoming guests at the 2017 Christmas Package to FCT Welfare Associations, Director of Protocol FCTA, Alhaji Musa Sani Daura, reiterated that donating to the needy during nationally recognized festive periods like Christmas, Sallah and Easter remains a routine practice by the FCT Administration.
This, according to the Protocol Director aims at ensuring that not only the haves, but also the have-nots too celebrate during such festive seasons.
Our correspondent reports that most of the beneficiaries, who expressed delight and gratitude for the gesture, said they are now relieved from despair and anxiety over what to eat during the Yuletide season.
Thanking the FCTA for always putting smiles on their faces, they prayed for God’s guidance and protection of the Minister in his duties, for having the vulnerable in mind, at a time like this.
