The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara has re-affirmed the need for the Commission to partner with the National Orientation Agency (NOA).
A statement issued by the head of Media and Publicity, NCPC, Celestine Ogugua, said the executive secretary disclosed this recently in Abuja, while playing host to the Director-General of the NOA and his management team.
Mr. Opara stressed that the Commission needed to partner with National Orientation Agency to give orientation to pilgrims who travelled to the holy land so that they maintain Nigeria’s core values and norms.
In his words: “Our pilgrims are the ambassadors of Nigeria and giving them orientation will go a long way to change their mentality and behaviour”, he stated, adding that such orientation would have a positive effect on our image abroad
He intimated the Director-General and his team that the theme for this year’s pilgrimage is: “Pilgrimage as a tool for moral and spiritual transformation”. Mr. Opara stated that it was the desire of the Commission that people who will travel on pilgrimage will come back morally and spiritually transformed, and in turn affect those around them, as according to him, this will in no time make Nigeria a better place.
